Happy New Year!
Thank you all so much for subscribing to my work and supporting my writing these past couple of years. I want to start by apologizing for the lack of content over the last several months. Last year I spent a lot of time and energy working on these articles. As you all know, all my articles relate to trans issues in some form or another. Whether it be criticizing how the media has portrayed trans people, stand-ups and comedians that joke about the trans community, anti-trans legislation, or my own personal reflections on how I have been feeling and struggling with my dysphoria. Basically, I needed to take a short break. Much of that content is difficult to write about, and at times left me in a very melancholic state. It’s a new year, however, and I am regaining back some of that focus I lost.
This year I plan on continuing working on articles about trans representation and media criticism. I was working on a critique of Graham Linehan’s book Tough Crowd but have decided to scrap that and instead focus on something a little more positive. First on the docket is going to be a review of Torrey Peter’s novel Detransition, Baby. I started this book last year, and from what I read of it I loved. I have heard people discuss some problems with it, however, and am interested in diving into some of those potential problems.
I have also started working on an outline for a screenplay. I do not wish to go into too many details at this time, but it is another trans story that is often not shown and represented in media. I am extremely passionate about this story and will share updates along the way.
Lastly, I am going to continue working on my semi-autobiography about the struggles I have gone through since starting my transition 10 years ago. The Preface and Chapter 1 have already been written, with some edits here and there. I stopped working on it as I felt at times it wasn’t good enough. I am trying to get out of that mindset this year, and instead focus on ways I can be better.
Once again, thank you all so much for your continued support over the years. Thank you for reading and sharing my work and thank you for sticking with me when I needed to take some time for myself. I hope everyone has a beautiful new year.
Much Love,
Kristina
